Textile Explorations - ongoing course

Each year from September throught to June we run a once-a-month art textiles course.

The focus of the course will be to develop a series of textile collages/journal pieces inspired by your favourite places or local landscapes. Along the way there will be plenty of opportunity to dye and print your own fabrics, and these will be used within your compositions. We will focus on shape, text, line and texture. 

First refusal on places will be given to exisiting course participants but if you are interested in future courses then please drop us a message (you can use the 'contact/find us' page)

£300 to be paid in installments.

Festive Bobbin Tree Evening

Thursday 2nd December 2021 18:30-21:00

Come and spend the evening creating a festive hand stitched bobbin tree with Laura Houel, a textile artist and tutor based in Warwickshire.


Laura creates textiles predominantly using vintage, found and repurposed materials and threads.


You will be guided through creating your own beautiful hand stitched bobbin tree using a variety of vintage fabrics, lace and thread and will have the chance to embellish with buttons and beads to make this a truly unique and personal addition to your festive decor! 

£35 including all materials, a glass of fizz and festive nibbles. 

Festive Floral Wreath Making *full*

This popular workshop will once again be ran by  Rebecca Kate Flowers, There is a morning and afternoon session. 

Spend a fun and relaxing couple of hours at the studio creating your own unique and beautiful christmas wreath. 

You will be tought how to create a traditional style foral wreath and Becky will provide a wide selection of items to decorate your wreath with, together with ribbons to finish off your creation, ready to hang for the festive season.

Sheer Fabric Play Day *full

Fancy a play day with sheer fabrics??
Liske will be running this experimental workshop
Layer, cut , collage, print and stitch sheer fabrics to create some interesting samples. Experiment with water soluble fabric, free machine stitch, and using cellulose paste as a way of fixing the layers together.
£50 including all meterials and refreshments. Sewing machine required.

Colour Families & Mark-making 2-day course

Monday 24th & Tuesday 25th January 2022 10:00-15:30

Spend a colourful couple of days at the studio learning how to use procion MX dyes to develop an extensive pallette. 

Create harmonious colour families and go on to explore these colours further with various mark-making and monoprinting techniques. 

You will build up a detailed visual reference of a number of colour schemes on fabric as well as learning the method to explore any colour and value scheme of your choice. 

You will also create exciting pieces of cloth along the way!

Mark-making and Paper Patchwork

Saturday 5th February 2022 10:00-15:30

This is a new mixed media workshop for 2022 and it's all about using a vareity of tools (some handmade) and found objects to make free and expressive marks and text onto paper & fabric.

Spend the morning builing up a collection of exciting papers, then after lunch we willl chop up, collage and stitch them back together again so create some small artworks.

£65 including refreshments and most materials. 

Sewing the seeds: An introduction to natural dyeing

One Monday a month for 3 months:  11th April, 16th May and 20th June with tutor Jo Smith

A calming and nurturing course which will gently guide you into the magical world of plant dyes and prints, deepening your connection with nature. Perfect for nature lovers who enjoy creating things and for creative people who love nature... Over the course we will develop our own unique stitched nature stories. Using nature and the turning of the seasons as our guide and inspiration, we will: 

  • Develop a palette of beautiful natural dyes made from plant materials from Jo's dye garden and local area, then use these to dye our fabrics and threads.   

  • Build a journal to support the nature dyeing process

  • Transform your dyed fabrics info fabric collage and hand stitch into handcrafted story books 

We will also sow new seeds and nurture dye plants so you may begin to grow your own dye garden, these seeds will grow alongside us as we grow our creative practice and connection with nature together. 

These processes take time to work and stitch so we will be working slowly and mindfully and you will be supported to develop your own work and style over the duration of the course

Textile Collage: Vase of  Flowers

Spend a colourful day creating a vibrant textile collage of your favourite vase of flowers.

Use a photo or image as inspiration and we will guide you through the process of creating your collage. You can take advantage of our collection of hand dyed and printed fabrics, as well as including some of your own favourite fabrics. 

Sewing machine required and basic sewing experience.

Your finished A3 sized piece will look great framed, or mounted on a canvas. 

Group size is being limited to 8 to allow for plenty of interaction.

Spring Rag Wreath

Mixed Media Mini Landscapes 2-day course

Friday 1st & Saturday 2nd April 2022 10:00-15:30

This exciting 2-day course has been inspired by Liske's 100 days of litte landscapes.

Bring along images of your favourite places and we will spend a couple of days bissfully painting, printing, collaging and stitching to create your own small series of small landscapes. We will work on a variety of fabrics and papers and explore ways to create layers and texture.

Sewing machine required and basic sewing experience..

Lampshade / Lantern :
Print & Make workshop

Monday 25th April  2022 10:00-14:30

Join us for a relaxing day at the studio fabric printing and creating either a pair of lovely lanterns or your own bespoke lampshade.

You will spend the morning printing your own fabric using thermofax screens as well as Indian wooden print blocks, no experience necessary, you will be given tuition on both techniques and plenty of time to practice before printing your own fabric for use on your final item(s).

When combined with a tea light or some fairy lights the lanterns give out a lovely glow, and the lampshades on offer are a 30cm drum style, a perfect update to any room..

No sewing involved.

Additional lantern/ lampshade kits can be purchased on the day.

Forage Print Stitch

Friday 13th May and Saturday 14th May 2022 10:00-15:30

We love this mixed media workshop so much we're bringing it back as a two day course. 

We will begin by exploring the surrounding countryside for wildflowers and leaves. These found treasures will then be your source of inspiration for the day....we will monoprint, gelli print, sun print and more onto both papers and cloth.

One the second day we will spend time collaging together some of your favourite pieces before adding a layer of hand stitch.

Introduction to Indigo Shibori

Come and experience the magic of Indigo dyeing in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside. You will spend the day experimenting with a variety of Shibori techniques to create a wonderful collection of fabrics to take away.

Bring along your own natural fabrics/ items or buy from us on the day. As well as fabrics we sell cushion covers, tableware, pashminas, canvas bags, which all dye beautifully. 

£50 including dye and refreshments. 

Botanical Gelli Plate Printing workshop

Saturday 2nd July 2022 10:00-15:30

Spend the morning exploring the possibilities of gelli plate printing. Using leaves and flowers from your garden we will work onto fabric and papers layering colour and pattern to create a wonderful collection of samples. After lunch we will will spend time focusing on collaging together some of your pieces to create an exciting piece of art.

The Magic of Indigo 2-day Course

Friday 15th and  Saturday 16th July 2022

If like us you think that one day playing with Indigo isn't enough then you can join us for two magical days of indigo dyeing.

You will spend time experimenting with a variety of Shibori folding and stitching techniques to create beautifully patterned fabrics, we will also explore over-dyeing coloured and printed fabrics, as well as using wax as a resist.

You will create a wondeful collection of fabrics, perfect for patchowrk or other projects.

£130 including dye, and refreshments. Bring along your own natural fabrics. 

Art Cloth : Maps and more

20th & 21st July AND 25th & 26th  July 2022

Next years summer school will be a 4-day course, taking place over two weeks.

Taking inspiration from maps of your favourite places we will spend the first two days creating a collection of fabrics/art cloth using thickened dyes, breakdown printing and screen printing techniques.

When you return the following week we will take time to consider a variety of simple compositions before using your fabrics to create a textile art wall hanging. 

£220 including dye, and refreshments. Bring along your own natural fabrics. Sewing machine required.

Indian Summer : Textile Collage

Saturday 3rd September 2022

A lovely new workshop to end summer 2022, this course will combine indian block printing, collage and slow stitch, all using glorious vintage sari silks and hand dyed fabrics.

Create your own block printed fabric collection and collage these together with vintage fabrics, then hand stitch in a boro style to create a mini quilt that could be framed, made into a cushion or even a panel for a bag.

£65 including materials and refreshments.

Walk - Print - Stitch

29th September, 30th September & 1st October 2022

This 3-day course is returning for 2022, spend 3 enjoyable days creating fabrics and textile art inspired by your favourite walks, 

Come prepared with photographs taken on your walk. We will use these to develop ideas and print fabrics which will be used to collage with and create a mini series of textile art with supporting sketchbook work.

We will create a mapped out version of your walk on fabric using simple stamps and stitch. 

This course will involve mark-making, monoprinting, stencilling, collage, hand stitch and free machine stitch.

£180 including most materials and refreshments. Own sewing machine required.
