Each month Liske runs a 'studio day' (sometimes two) in which you can come and take advantage of the space and facilities to work on your own projects. At the same time spending a creative day with like-minded people.
You can make use of the screens, fabric paints, dyes and more. Or bring along your WIP & sewing machine... whatever takes your fancy!

Textile Explorations - ongoing course
Each year from September through to June we run a once-a-month art textiles course on various weekdays, 10-3.30.
The focus of the 2022/23 course will be 'shape to stitch'. Taking a shape/motif of your choice as a starting point we will develop ideas, dye and print to build a collection of fabrics that will be used in a creating a series of mini quilts/wall hangings/textile art pieces. Explore a variety of surface print techniques, as well as how to incorporate print as a final layer of marks/pattern.
First refusal on places will be given to exisiting course participants but if you are interested in future courses then please drop us a message (you can use the 'contact/find us' page)

Sewing the seeds: An introduction to natural dyeing
One Monday a month for 3 months: 12th September, 24th October & 21st November.
A calming and nurturing course which will gently guide you into the magical world of plant dyes and prints, deepening your connection with nature. This course will take you from autumn into winter and is for beginners as well as those with some knowledge, there is always something new to learn. Perfect for nature lovers who enjoy creating things and for creative people who love nature... Over the course we weill be working withplants and foliage from this particular time of year.
Develop a palette of beautiful naturally dyed fabrics and threads using plant materials from Jo's dye garden and local area
Print a selection of fabrics with seasonal leaves and flowers
Begi to transform your dyed fabrics info fabric collage and hand stitch into handcrafted story books and stand-alone pieces
These processes take time to work and stitch so we will be working slowly and mindfully and you will be supported to develop your own work and style over the duration of the course

Spend a relaxing evening learning a new crative skill, or topping up your collection of handprinted fabrics.
Liske & Claire will guide you through how to use thermofax screens / wooden print blocks, to effectively print your own fabric.
We have large collections of both for you to take advantage of. Spend time practicing before printing your own tea towel or canvas tote bag.

Botanical Gelli Plate Printing workshop
Saturday 2nd July 2022 10:00-15:30 *waiting list places only
Spend the morning exploring the possibilities of gelli plate printing. Using leaves and flowers from your garden we will work onto fabric and papers layering colour and pattern to create a wonderful collection of samples. After lunch we will will spend time focusing on collaging together some of your pieces to create an exciting piece of art.

Tuesday12th July 2022 10:00-15:30
Come along and create a unique piece of textile art inspired by trips to the coast. You will have time to add colour, text and marks to fabric before creating a landscape inspired collage that will be abstracted and worked into further with hand and machine stitch. Perfect to frame or wrap around a canvas.

The Magic of Indigo 2-day Course
Friday 15th and Saturday 16th July 2022
If like us you think that one day playing with Indigo isn't enough then you can join us for two magical days of indigo dyeing.
You will spend time experimenting with a variety of Shibori folding and stitching techniques to create beautifully patterned fabrics, we will also explore over-dyeing coloured and printed fabrics, as well as using wax as a resist.
You will create a wondeful collection of fabrics, perfect for patchowrk or other projects.
£130 including dye, and refreshments. Bring along your own natural fabrics.
Art Cloth : Maps and more *Full
20th & 21st July AND 25th & 26th July 2022
Next years summer school will be a 4-day course, taking place over two weeks.
Taking inspiration from maps of your favourite places we will spend the first two days creating a collection of fabrics/art cloth using thickened dyes, breakdown printing and screen printing techniques.
When you return the following week we will take time to consider a variety of simple compositions before using your fabrics to create a textile art wall hanging.

Wednesday 17th August 2022, 10:00-15:00
Create your own collection of gorgeous, abstract, postcard sized prints on fabric.
Begin by making your own print block then go on to use this along with mark-making tools, stencils, stamps and themofax screens to build up layers of print.
We will then go onto addinga layer of colour along with some added extras.
These can then be mounted individually, used on cards or transformed into a wall hanging, the possibilities are endless!

Dye & Print *full
Tuesday 23rd & Wednesday 24th August 2022, 10:00-15:00
Spend a wonderful two days creating your own bundle of hand dyed and printed fabrics.
Use a coordinated colour palette to explore the world of procion dyes in various forms.
You will be given time to experiement with thermofax screen printing as well as an introduction to breakdown printing.
Across the two days you will produce around 4-5m of bespoke fabric.

Indian Summer : Textile Collage
Saturday 3rd September 2022 *waiting list places only
A lovely new workshop to end summer 2022, this course will combine indian block printing, collage and slow stitch, all using glorious vintage sari silks and hand dyed fabrics.
Create your own block printed fabric collection and collage these together with vintage fabrics, then hand stitch in a boro style to create a mini quilt that could be framed, made into a cushion or even a panel for a bag.
£65 including materials and refreshments.
Walk - Print - Stitch
29th September, 30th September & 1st October 2022
This 3-day course is returning for 2022, spend 3 enjoyable days creating fabrics and textile art inspired by your favourite walks,
Come prepared with photographs taken on your walk. We will use these to develop ideas and print fabrics which will be used to collage with and create a mini series of textile art with supporting sketchbook work.
We will create a mapped out version of your walk on fabric using simple stamps and stitch.
This course will involve mark-making, monoprinting, stencilling, collage, hand stitch and free machine stitch.
£180 including most materials and refreshments. Own sewing machine required.
Lampshade / Lantern :Print & Make workshop
Monday 3rd October 2022 10:00-14:30
Join us for a relaxing day at the studio fabric printing and creating either a pair of lovely lanterns or your own bespoke lampshade.
You will spend the morning printing your own fabric using thermofax screens as well as Indian wooden print blocks, no experience necessary, you will be given tuition on both techniques and plenty of time to practice before printing your own fabric for use on your final item(s).
When combined with a tea light or some fairy lights the lanterns give out a lovely glow, and the lampshades on offer are a 30cm drum style, a perfect update to any room..
No sewing involved.
Additional lantern/ lampshade kits can be purchased on the day.

Colour Families & Mark-making 2-day course
Monday 30th & Tuesday 31st January 2023 10:00-15:30
A must-do course for anyone interested in dyeing their own fabrics!
Spend a colourful couple of days at the studio learning how to use procion MX dyes to develop an extensive pallette.
Create harmonious colour families and go on to explore these colours further with various mark-making and monoprinting techniques.
You will build up a detailed visual reference of a number of colour schemes on fabric as well as learning the method to explore any colour and value scheme of your choice.
You will also create exciting pieces of cloth along the way!
£130 including refreshments and most materials.
