Sheer Fabric Play Day

Fancy a play day with sheer fabrics??
Margaret Beal was due to be with us on this date but sadly this workshop has been cancelled so Liske will be running this experimental workshop as an alternative.
Layer, cut , collage, print and stitch sheer fabrics to create some interesting samples. Experiment with water soluble fabric as a way of fixing the layers together.
£50 including all meterials and refreshments. Sewing machine required.

Moday 5th July  2021 10:00-14:30

Join us for a relaxing day at the studio fabric printing and creating either a pair of lovely lanterns or your own bespoke lampshade.

You will spend the morning printing your own fabric using thermofax screens as well as Indian wooden print blocks, no experience necessary, you will be given tuition on both techniques. You will have plenty of fabric to work with and then pick the best bits to create your lantern/ lampshade.

When combined with a tea light or some fairy lights the lanterns give out a lovely glow, and the lampshades on offer are a 30cm drum style, a perfect update to any room..

No sewing involved.

Additional lantern/ lampshade kits can be purchased on the day.

Indigo Summer school

Thursday 15th/ Friday 16th and Saturday 17th July 2021

If like us you think that one day playing with Indigo isn't enough then this  3-day course is for you...
Come and experience the magic of indigo dyeing in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside . You will spend two days experimenting with a variety of Shibori folding and stitching techniques to create beautifully patterned fabrics, we will also explore over-dyeing coloured and printed fabrics, as well as using wax as a resist.

You will have the opportunity to add print on the final day and expore ways to use your fabric to create a small hanging or runner

£180 including dye, and refreshments. Bring along your own natural fabrics.

Friday 23rd July and Saturday 24th July 2021 10:00-15:00

Come and play with colour and print on this fun experimental two day workshop. Across the two days we will work with procion dyes in liquid and thickened form to add a range of colours to natural fabrics and threads. You will be able to dye a selection of shades in your chosen colours as well as some larger 'plough dyed' pieces of fabric. Thickened dyes will also be used to add print and pattern to your fabrics. You will master the art of thermofax screen printing and block printing, you'll even create your own block to print with.You will leave with a wonderful collection of fabrics to be used in future projects.

Our popular 3 day summer school will be returning. Enjoy a colourful 3 days at the studio and leave with a bountiful supply of hand dyed and printed fabrics ready for your next project. We will be primarily working with thickened dyes and a blank screen. We will cover the following techniques:

Coastal Hanging

Wednesday 11th August 2021 10:00-15:00

Spend a wonderful moring thermofax printing, stamping  and painting fabrics to create the elements for your coastal insprired mini wall hanging, We will then take time to work on composition before starting to hand stitch and add some extra embelishments such as buttons, words and seashells. Your hanging will be displayed on a piece of driftwood.

Spend the morning exploring the possibilities of gelli plate printing. Using leaves and flowers from your garden we will work onto fabric and papers layering colour and pattern to create a wonderful collection of samples. After lunch we will will spend time focusing on collaging together some of your pieces to create an exciting piece of art. £60 including all materials and refreshments. 

Introduction to Indigo Shibori 


Monday 13th September  2021 10:00-14:30

Come and experience the magic of Indigo dyeing in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside. You will spend the day experimenting with a variety of Shibori techniques to create a wonderful collection of fabrics to take away.

Bring along your own natural fabrics/ items or buy from us on the day. As well as fabrics we sell cushion covers, tableware, pashminas, canvas bags, which all dye beautifully.

Nature Printed Journal

Monday 20th September  2021 10:00-16:0

A calming day, working with nature's materials to create a unique, botanical printed, 'Nature Journal'.
This workshop will be led by friend of the studio Jo Smith, with support from Liske. Jo has spent lots of time experimenting with natural dyes and prints to create gorgeous books and textile art.
The day will begin by bundling up pages with leaves and flowers from your favourite place, before putting them in the pot to 'cook'. While this is happening we can sit and immerse ourselves in words, poetry and images inspired by nature.
In the afternoon we will learn how to put the book together and create beautiful covers to complete our journals, which you can then continue adding to at home.
£60 including materials and  refreshments. 

Festive Rag Wreath

Beverly Wenman will be leading this traditional workshop for us. Bev teaches for the Nathional Trust and will walk you through how to create a beautiful and luxurious fabric wreath that can be used year after year.

3-part Course

Satruday 2nd October; 6th November; 4th December 2021 10:00-16:00 

We are very excited about this new course, inspired by our many lockdown walks!

Join us once a month, for three months to build up an exciting sketchbook along with a trio of texile art pieces inspired by your local landscape. 

Throughout the course we will be using hand made stencils, mark-making, mono-printing, contact printing, thermofax pritning, using text within textiles, collage and stitch. You will have time to explore these techniques inbetween the sessions.

Suitable for all levels of experience. 


£180 including some materials and refreshments

*If course isn't able to go ahead in person a zoom alternative will be offered at a reduced price.

Textile Explorations - ongoing course

Our next ongoing course will commence in September with places available on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (exact dates tbc) 

Course is made up of 8 sessions over a 9/10 month period.

Group size will be limited to 9 per session

The focus of the course will be to develop complex sketchbooks along with a series of textile collages/journal pieces inspired by your favourite places or local landscapes. Along the way there will be plenty of opportunity to dye and print your own fabrics, and these will be used within your compositions. We will focus on shape, text, line and texture. 

First refusal on places will be given to exisiting course participants but if you are interested then please drop us a message (you can use the 'contact/find us' page

£300 to be paid in installments.

Textile Collage: Vase of  Flowers

Spend a colourful day creating a vibrant textile collage of your favourite vase of flowers.

Use a photo or image as inspiration and we will guide you through the process of creating your collage. You can take advantage of our collection of hand dyed and printed fabrics, as well as including some of your own favourite fabrics. 

Sewing machine required and basic sewing experience.

Your finished A3 sized piece will look great framed, or mounted on a canvas. 

Group size is being limited to 8 to allow for plenty of interaction.

£65 including refreshments and most materials. 

Forage Print Stitch  

Two day workshop

Friday 13th May and Saturday 14th May 2022 10:00-15:30

We love this mixed media workshop so much we're bringing it back as a two day course. 

We will begin by exploring the surrounding countryside for wildflowers and leaves. These found treasures will then be your source of inspiration for the day....we will monoprint, gelli print, sun print and more onto both papers and cloth.

One the second day we will spend time collaging together some of your favourite pieces before adding a layer of hand stitch.  

£130 including most materials and refreshments.


Littleheath Barn Studio reserves the right to cancel a workshop, should we need to we will give as much notice as possible and will either refund your payment in full or offer an alternative date/workshop.

If you need to cancel please contact us at your earliest convenience and we will do our best to find an alternative workshop for you. Should you cancel within two weeks of the workshop date, payment is however non refundable unless your place can be filled*, in which case we will refund your payment or book you onto another workshop.
