Workshops and Courses

COVID-19 Update (Monday 30th March 2020)

Due to the current Coronavirus situation Littleheath Barn Studio is closed for workshops. If you are booked onto a course or workshop please bear with us… we will be reviewing our plans every few weeks, in line with government advice, and react accordingly. We endeavour to rearrange any cancelled workshops for later this year/early 2021. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please do your bit, stay home if you can and stay well and keep creating!

Claire and I are using our extra free time to try out some new ideas and we look forward to sharing them with you all once all of this is behind us!

Fabric print, collage and stitch 

Saturday 4th July 2020 10:00-15:30

Come and join Liske and Claire at the studio for a creative day making your own piece of textile art. Your piece could be displayed in an embroidery hoop, on a canvas, or framed.
You will begin by printing and painting pieces of fabric using a variety of techniques. These will then be carefully collaged onto a piece of vintage linen, your design could be abstract or something more literal. we will go on to add some simple boro style hand stitch. £50 including all materials, lunch & refreshments.

Introduction into Indigo Shibori

Tuesday 11th August  2020 10:00-15:30

A perfect introduction to indigo & Shibori!
Come and experience the magic of indigo dyeing in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside. You will spend the morning experimenting with a variety of Shibori techniques to create a wonderful collection of samples to take away. £50 including dye, and a canvas bag to dye. Bring along your own additional fabrics/items, or buy from us on the day, as well as fabrics we sell cushion covers, table ware, pashminas, canvas bags, which all Dye beautifully.

Forage, print, stitch **full**

Saturday 15th August  2020 10:00-15:30

This is a new mixed media workshop for 2020. We will begin by exploring the surrounding countryside for wild flowers and leaves. These found treasures will then be your source of inspiration for the day... we will monoprint, gelli print, sun print and more before adding a bit of slow stitch to your favourite samples. £50 including most materials, refreshments and lunch

Summer School: Breakdown and experimental fabric printing **full**

Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th August 2020 10:00-15:00

We’re very excited that our 3-day summer school will be returning on August 17-18-19. Enjoy a colourful 3 days at the studio and leave with a stash of hand printed fabrics ready for your next project!
We will be primarily working with thickened dyes and a blank screen! We will cover these techniques, plus more if time allows...

*thermofax printing

No experience needed, £150 including refreshments and lunches, days will run from 10am-3pm. Group size of 8.

Lutradur Landscapes

Monday 24th August 2020 10:00-15:30

Another new workshop for 2020. Spend a day exploring the possibilities of Lutradur... we will begin by painting and printing to form a collection of Lutradur samples. These will then be layered and collaged to create a beautiful landscape, or set of landscapes, which will be stitched into either by hand or machine. Lutradur, a bonded polyester fabric, was created as an industrial material, it has similar qualities to paper in the way we can add colour plus it does not fray. It’s great for stitching into plus it has a nice degree of transparency.

Indigo Summer School

Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September 2020


If like us you think that one day playing with Indigo isn't enough then this  2-day course is for you...
Come and experience the magic of indigo dyeing in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside . You will spend two days experimenting with a variety of Shibori folding and stitching techniques to create beautifully patterned fabrics, we will also explore over-dyeing coloured and printed fabrics, as well as using wax as a resist. £120 including dye, lunches and refreshments. Bring along your own natural fabrics. 

Shibori: Indigo and ice

Saturday 12th September 2020 10:00-16:00

After a successful trial last summer this colourful combo will be back! Come and experience the magic of indigo & ice dyeing in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside 💙. You will have plenty of time to experiment with a variety of Shibori folding, clamping & stitching techniques and create a wonderful collection of patterned fabrics to take away. £50 including lunch and refreshments (you just need to bring along your own natural fabrics or pre order from us

Amazing Autumn: experimental day 

Saturday 3rd October 2020 10:00-16:00

An experimental day taking inspiration from nature and the time of year. Bring along some found leaves and ‘autumn treasure’ and we will use this for mark making, mono printing & geli plate printing. We will also experiment with rust dyeing. You’ll leave with a lovely collection of fabric samples to stitch into. £50 including most materials, refreshments and lunch.

Lovely Lanterns: Print and make

Monday 12th October 2020 10:00-15:00

Join us for a relaxing day at the studio creating a pair of lovely lanterns. You will spend the morning printing your own fabric using thermofax screens as well as Indian wooden print blocks, then the best bits of your fabric will be used to create your lanterns. We will have time to add a bit of hand stitch along the way too!
When combined with a tea light or some fairy lights these lanterns give out a lovely glow... they would look lovely on an outdoor table in the Autumn too!
No experience necessary. No sewing involved. Additional lantern kits can be purchased.

Monthly Textile Groups:

September 2020- July 2021. Text Texture Textiles

We also run monthly textile groups, meeting once a month to explore and create art textiles. Working on a theme as a guide to stimulate your own style you will have the opportunity to explore different surface decoration techniques both textile and paper based. Working towards final pieces , series of works.

Term runs from September 2020 to July 2021, with 9 meet ups. This September we start a new course 'Text Texture Textiles' Places for both Thursday and Friday groups. If you are interested please email contact@littleheathbarnstudio.com for more details.

CRUK Christmas Crafts & Pop Up Shop 

Saturday 21st November 10:00-15:00 **Save the date**

We will be opening the studio for a day of drop in workshops. We will also have a Christmas pop up shop selling unique handmade gifts.

There will be plenty of tea, coffee, cake and mince pies.

Why not delve into our fabric stash and create a textile Christmas card, a pretty fabric brooch , or a special textile tag. All we ask is for a minimum donation of £5 per item made, this includes all materials and 100% of the money from the workshops and refreshments will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

Littleheath Barn Studio reserves the right to cancel a workshop, should we need to we will give as much notice as possible and will either refund your payment in full or offer an alternative date/workshop.

If you need to cancel please contact us at your earliest convenience and we will do our best to find an alternative workshop for you. Should you cancel within two weeks of the workshop date, payment is however non refundable unless your place can be filled, in which case we will refund your payment or book you onto another workshop.
